One Rank One Pension – Over 2 Lakh Get Revised Benefits – The one rank one pension amount, in addition to the first instalment of arrears, was paid out to this batch of pensioners on March 1.
The Defence Ministry on Monday said it had disbursed revisedbenefits to 2,21,224 pensioners under the One Rank OnePension (OROP)scheme.
This was done by the Defence Pension Disbursing Offices (DPDOs) under the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) in the Ministry.
The one rank one pension amount, in addition to the first instalment of arrears, was paid out to this batch of pensioners on March 1.
For the remaining 1,46,335 family pensioners, who are drawing the benefit from the DPDOs, the payment is going to be distributed by March-end, said a Ministry release.
The total additional annual financial increase for grant of OROP is ₹7,488.70 crore, it added.
“Due to increase in defence pension budget, the additional liability for current financial year 2015-16 shall be ₹4,721.34 crore which will increase the current defence pension liability of ₹60,238 crore to ₹64,959.34 crore for the year 2015-16,” the Ministry said.
The Pension Disbursing Agencies have been authorised to make payments with arrears as scheduled.
