Pay Commission Award On Way After Issuing OROP Notification

New Delhi: Finance Ministry officials have said today that the government would announce the Seventh Pay Commission award in the forthcoming months to hike the salaries and allowances of central government employees as notification of One Rank One Pension (OROP) for ex-servicemen has been issued on Wednesday.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations would add at least Rs 1.02 lakh crore spending in 2016.

“One Rank One Pension (OROP) is now going to be implemented after notification. Hence Finance Ministry will issue the notification of ‘Pay Commission award’ in forthcoming months,” they told our reporters.
The Pay Commission award would help hike the salaries and allowances of central government employees, the officials said.
The officials added that the government was yet to decide on whether to announce dearness allowance (DA) from January 2016 for central government employees in the forthcoming month March or April.
The officials also said that the government wanted to focus to reduce the salary gap between higher officials and lower employees.
The Seventh pay commission recommended fixing the minimum pay Rs 18,000 and the maximum pay Rs 250,000, which increased the pay gap between the minimum and maximum from existing 1:12 to 1: 13.8.
Every pay commissions except Seventh Pay Commission made up pay gap between lower employees and higher officers from second Pay Commission 1:41 ratio to Sixth pay commission 1:12.
Finance Ministry officials confirmed, the Empowered Committee of Secretaries (CoS) headed by cabinet Secretary P K Sinha for processing the report of the Seventh Central Pay Commission, has been asked to immediate complete, their process for cabinet nod to issue notification for Seventh Pay Commission award as notification of One Rank One Pension (OROP) has already been issued.
Currently there are some 4.8 million central government employees and 5.2 million pensioners.
However, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations would add at least Rs 1.02 lakh crore spending in 2016.
